Sunita Williams on life lessons she got from up above the world so high.
Travelling space has changed my perspective on life. When you look at Earth from space as 'one planet', you realize how petty human grievances or differences are," astronaut Sunita Williams said.
My father is from India, my mother is from Slovenia. So naturally I'm looking for both places that I can call home, and that's your first goal," she said. But later, "this initial 'feeling of finding home' gradually changes into a sense of oneness with the Earth,"
Honestly, I thought, why should anyone fight over anything? I'm married. I have a husband. We fight. So I understand how arguments happen; but it really comes down to this, why is this happening, and when you look at the world from that perspective, everything seems so petty," Williams said.
This is a very valuable and unique interview with Sunita Williams. The title is also very apt. The kind of emotions she expresses in it are very important because they come from the experience of an astronaut. It will be in the interest of all of us to adopt such kind of thinking.
For that, it is not necessary and is impossible to travel into the space. We could do this by meditating on the all-pervasive Lord. We can do this kind of perspective every day by sitting in our own space without going into space. From that also these thoughts can be strengthened in our mind and intellect. But we must do it every day. As the number of those who do so increases, the Earth will become more and more peaceful place to live for generations to come.
The method of such meditation is to sit quietly, peacefully in any asana. After that close your eyes and take a deep breath. The omnipresent Lord means to Bring in mind the thought of omnipresent God which means the entire universe. As we do so, we begin to see planets, stars, and we begin to see tiny spots; the Sun and the Earth from space. When our mind becomes one with the universe, we unconsciously start thinking like Sunita Williams.
I experienced something of the sort when on my flight over frankfurt, iceland and lake michigan though a first timer to watch it all; my mind was full of abundant love and affection for those parts of the world. That feeling was so incredible that I can't express it in words correctly. ЁЯШК
Our ancient sages saw this kind of thought in meditation. They whispered 'this world is my home' and bestowed it to the whole world. Although thought is very rudimentary today; it can bounce back. It is all in our hands and interests to do so.
Am I right?
