Ardahang or paralysis or hemeplagia in details ayurveda wise

ARDHANG VATA : PARALYSIS AN AYURVEDIC APPROACH

The vitiated vatdosha is the root cause for ardhang vayu or hemiplagia. It captures half part of the body and contracts different parts of that half of body so the patient keeps his\her hand contracted near chest.Walking is also affected he\she will drag his feet while walking. It dries out veins and muscles of that half part, along that it will loosens the articulative structures of joints. Thus it affects certain half of the body. That half part of the body becomes num and useless. Motor and sensory functions are affected,thus debeleting the patient.
The patient won’t easily move organs like hand or leg of that half.He\she won't get hold of things properly. His\her face may or may not get curved or distorted. His\her eye eyesight may be affected along with that.Sometimes there are pains and sometimes there is loss of speech or may be slurred speech.
Sometimes both sides are also affected thus to be called as sarvangvat or sarvang rog or paraplegia. When vatdushti is coupled by dhatukshay then it becomes hard to treat. In this dhatukshay there may be loss of nurons or may be loss of blood supply to the nervous tissue.High blood pressure may be another common cause of this disease.
Rehabilitation

The first and foremost important part of rehab is to convince the patient that he can live better life and could do many things on his own.
Ayurveda suggests some medicines along with panchakarmas like abhyang basti and virechan. Exercises has very important role in the treatment of ardhang.Which at the begining is passive done while masaj also.Gradually patient will move his\her organs on own
For facial paralysis nasy karm is done in which medicated oils are inserted in the nostrils. Bala tel narayan tel are used for this purpose. After this physician applies medicated oils like bramhi tel to the head and face and then face is soothened with medicated steam with dashamula kwath.
Medication or other treatment should be done under expert’s guidance.
Mashadi kwath is a very useful in pakshaghat in which there are drugs like urad kavachbeej bala hing and saindhav. These are some drugs that strengthen weak body parts or dhatus
Mash tail is used for masaj. Mahanarayan tel for snehbasti [medicated oil enema]
For facial paralysis you can use makkhan along with water soaked blackgram or udid seeds.
Udid or blackgram is very strong strength increasing eatable in paralysis, it also corrects vitiated vatdosh in patients body.
Lasun or garlic has very good role in this disease. It should be coupled with hingu, jirak, saindhav, souvarchal and trikatu. It is also known that garlic is useful in heart disease.
One point to be noted here is that some ayurvedic texts narrate that organs in skull: brain in particular is 2 nd heart or mastishk hrudayam.
In ardhang vat ie hemeplagia one can use tabs of mahavatvidhwans, ekangvirras .
Perticularly in chronic patients you can also use abhrak bhasm, laxmivilas ras , smrutisagar or tapyadi loh along with maharasnadi kwath
In facial paralysis there is proprietry of sameer pannag ras, suvarn bhupati ras roupya bhasm mahayoaraj guggul. Vajr bhasm or dimond bhasm is also useful that is given with ashwagandharisht or dashamularisht.
Masaj therapy in ayurveda

A masajer will gently lift organs affected and sooth them with medicated oil like mash or bala tel,mahamash tel prepared with non veg is also useful in this case mahanarayan tel is also used for this purpose.
Enema could be given with til tail or bala tail.
