Fever : causes mentioned in Ayurveda. 1 Fevers are considered to be one of the basic & very powerful diseases and have a long history in the human pathology. In ayurveda it is believed that fever appeared first on the earth due to anger of deity called rudra. We at our clinic do treat fevers succesfully. According to ayurveda basic reason of fever is the ama which is undigested food stored in the stomach. So indigestion is the root cause. Types of jwar \ fever are 8 in number according to vitiated doshas.Though the root cause is ama there are many causes in diet and lifestyle which cause the ama to be formed.Vataj jwar is caused by dry light food, excessive shodhan [ removal of doshas ] in panchakarmas. Excessive exercise or holding natural urges like defecation, hunger etc. Ama & vat vitiation may also be caused by not having food or by excessive sex act, let sleeping times. Though we have entered 21 st century; leave out the villages but the big cities like Pune have many poor people who can not afford their day to day livelihood. After moving around in the city in this view, Manav Jagaran Manch found the necessity of medical care for the poor as a dire necessity. Many organisations call on for health camps, we have also participated in such camps. But actually we found them to be not so result oriented because you examine, suggest and go but who will bare the cost of the treatment? Particularly elderly fail to afford the medicines and remain silent after such camps; baring the pains of diseases they have.  Hence we came to the decision that we will serve the poor old people for 6 days a week through out the year at the dispensary of Dr. Phatak. Mrs. T age 60 suffered from cough since july last year. Initially she suffered from dry cough which was translated into vigorous coughing and running nose.
